HV Systems Engineer

Manchester, UK£550–£700/day6–12 months (extendable)

Ampira Energy is recruiting a High Voltage (HV) Systems Engineer for a leading aerospace client based in Manchester. This is a contract role supporting the development and integration of HV electrical systems for a next-generation electric propulsion programme. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled team working on cutting-edge electrification technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate HV electrical systems and architectures for aerospace applications
  • Lead HV systems integration activities across the propulsion and power management sub-systems
  • Conduct HV safety assessments in accordance with aerospace standards (DO-178C, ARP4761)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, thermal, and software engineering
  • Support HV testing and commissioning activities including ground and flight test preparation
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including system specifications, test plans, and safety cases
  • Engage with certification authorities and support regulatory approval activities

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in HV systems engineering within aerospace, automotive, or defence
  • Strong understanding of HV safety principles and relevant standards (IEC 61851, DO-160)
  • Experience with HV system design tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, or equivalent)
  • Ability to obtain UK security clearance (BPSS minimum)
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with electric propulsion or More Electric Aircraft (MEA) architectures
  • Familiarity with EASA or FAA certification processes
  • IET or IMechE membership
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
